Steve, Just a note to say I saw you perform in Launceston Australia last Friday (25/1/02). I nearly fell off my chair when I read in the local paper you were performing at the Royal Oak Hotel the following night. Your show was sensational, you even converted my wife to the Blues, (a major achievement). Thanks for coming to Tasmania, I look forward to seeing you perform again, hopefully in Chicago next time!!

Hi Steve
Had to have a look at your site!! Have been ensuring "Soul of a Man" is on the airwaves in the Tuggeranong Valley FM 89.5.
Will catch up with you at the Goulburn Festival. Your show on Saturday Night at Thredbo was amazing @#@$!@. Thanks for sharing your music with us.
About the CD -Im Hooked!!!- I love your vocals on Mississippi, The rhythmic infectous beat of a Bridge Torn Down, Freedom of the soul with the Funky DJ passion's and the soul yearning of the heart/guitar string lament of Xmas time that prepares you for the rhythms of life. "Soul of a man" is like a festival of the best Blues music together in one venue. Regards Ruth

Hi steve
just seeing if you remember me from the all-under 15's blues band in the isle of man (out of the blue) who played at the laxey blues festival. Just need to say that the workshop you did was amazing and adam our bass player put it perfectly he said "if you want to listen to a guy who will inspire you to practice more and make you give up due to his sheer talent of playing guitar steve arvey is perfect". i have purchased a freddie king album as you have advised and am thoughraghly enjoying it. I have two of your albums and i am trying to (unsuccessfully) figure out "its my soul", "coming back to you" and "the doldrums" so we could cover them in our band (with your permission of course). Anyway thank you very much you really have inspired me to play more blues and less widdle!!! Thankyou again davy ( 14 yr old guitarist in out of the blue, isle of man)
Great show at the Mines Stage sunday afternoon at the Isle of Man Blues Fest. I enjoyed your rendition of Big Road Blues. I hope the rest of Your UK tour goes well!!!
Just saw you playing at the Isle of Man Blues/Jazz Festival, in Laxey (19/05/01) - you were absolutley excellent. Thank you for such a brilliant performance. We hope you come back next year!
Hi from "Lebo" & Hildy. Have fun of the tour. Please keep in contact. Keep us on the mailing list!

I just wanted to thank Steve and his band for a wonderful performance at Micky Finns in Toledo, Ohio. We look forward to seeing you down the road in Chicago.
I've just received a copy of Steve's CD, 'It's a fine line' What a marvelous piece of work it is - as the cover quote says "This CD is sure to make any REAL music lover pleased." Couldn't agree more. I'll be featuring the album on my program 'Kind of Blues' on Radio KLFM, Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.
keep up the great music. i hope to see you this weekend at one or both of your shows. i would have loved to see a rovers show, the c.d. is great.
Hi Steve,
It is Mia. Long time no see or hear. How are you doing? John gave me you we site info. He tells me that you may be getting close to tying the knot. Good luck and congratulations. I may try it myself one day. Your site is impressive. I'm sure that John told you that I will be moving to Cape Town, South Africa soon. It is beautiful and the economy has a demand for people like myself. Send me a message sometime.
great sounding band hope to hear more from you pat welshmeyer
If anyone could possibly advise me on the best website to use to find blues schedules, please advise. I was unable to find Steve Arvey in any of them during a recent trip, and I find it difficult to believe it secondary to his lack of recognition there.
Or are they as ignorant as I was before I heard his music?
Val
Nice site, I'm a musician myself/old school I'm slowly putting a sit together with the help of a friend. www.hammondcelltech.com/chestr

Music Lover Always ~Pnut~
Wuz up Steve, I'm sure you don't know me, but I was referred to you by a friend I know works at a music store up in Grayslake, Ill. by the name of Ben Zinapatha. Ben did some work on a demo cd for me and heard about the trouble I was having putting a show together. So I guess he heard that you were in the market for some weekend touring musicians to work with and wanted to let you know that there's a pretty wild drummer looking for somebody to hook up with. Believe me, I'm seasoned at my craft and not afraid to take on any challenges. Basically, I'm a variety musician playing alot of stuff oriented to funk, jazz, rock, latin and blues. I can lay down a steady groove or get wild when its called for. I read charts and I'm a quick study for mostly anything. Early influences include the likes of Mitch Mitchell, Buddy Miles, Buddy Rich....that evovled into more of fusion oriented music back in the seventies where my main influences were (and still are to a degree),Alphonse Mouzon, Lenny White, Billy Cobham, and Mike Clark to name a few. Then again, those days I had alot more energy. Don't get me wrong though, I still hold my own even after a few years hiatus. I never lost my enjoyment of performing, but now I'm more interested in playing stuff folks can dance and have a good time to....a more conservative approach now that I've had a taste of parenthood. Anyway, I've got myown setup; acoustic and electronic (Doing some producing). Just want to let you know that I'm available if you're in need of a solid percussionist....oh, and did I tell you I do alright holdin a tune? I mainly program my drums for that if I have to do the lead, but I can do alright on a few backups. So, you got my email. If you'd prefer, give me a call at: 847-477-9277. Got a day job, so its best to call in the evening, or leave a message. Love to hear from you. DJ Senter
Hi Steve: Great show w/Kenning at Flatlander's on Sat. You left us wanting more of Arvey and Kenning playing electric! Blessings, Dan and Pam

Great to see Steve Arvey enjoying the success he deserves. May it keep flowing. Be sure to keep us left-coasters in mind.
Steve Cagle, producer/host of "New Soul Revival" on community radio KVMR FM, Nevada City, CA
steve, thanks for the great evening of blues and good ole rock and roll last saturday night at the slippery noodle. we cant remember the last time we enjoyed ourselves more. not only are you a great guitar player, singer, but one hell of a nice guy. hope to see you again when you come to indy. stay away from the gummy bears, and by the way, YOURE DOING A GREAT JOB, REALLY YOURE DOING A GREAT JOB.
Hi Steve,
I don't know you but been several times in Chicago.I do know John Kattke, he hosts jams in legends and plays with Otis Rush. I live in Rotterdam Holland and play "throughout"our little country with my band.
greetings Harold van Dorth a.k.a.FAT HARRY
Hey Steve I really like your guitar playing! I am a blues guitar player too. I was hoping you could give me some advice. I have a Mesa Boogie amp with lots of effects which I get a great tone with. I use these verb settings along with mild distortion and a touch of chorus. The problem is that my amp keeps cutting out. The whole thing goes dead after every song! Then just as I take off my guitar to see what is wrong, it turns back on. I'm at the point where I don't want to stop playing between songs! I know I can't do that because eventually I would bleed to death from my fingers! This is making me nuts! Everything was working fine until I hooked my AC up through "the clapper" that I took from my dead grand mothers estate sale. They make great surge protection devices. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? I've got this really big gig coming up at Mustaries in Chicago. I'm expecting about 500 people to be there. I hear the place is "the place" to play in Chicago. I don't want to screw up there. Also, I will be recording the show. Do you think I should ask the owner to beef up the PA there? How big is the stage? I'm sorry about all the questions but we are driving in from Hicksville,TN and we've never played there before. Thanks again for the great music. Yall Rock!
Billy

Hi Steve and Friends,
I just wanted to say hi. I can't type much today because I have this bigtime chest cold. I'm sure I'll be alright soon. I'm just glad to know that your friends are finding out so much about me! How's the band? How was playing Minnesota? I've never been there. It's always hard for me to travel. I can only stand for so long and then my back begins to hurt. I have a special brace that I wear to help me. It also works as a tent!
Take care,
Brunda

Anne Sofie Hoel Hunndalen Bluesklubb Norway
Just wanted to send a note to say hello to you and the fellows. Hope all is well. Still feeling the joy I shared with you guys and my son. He's 25 and we had never been out on the town so to speak. We had a ball, surprised him that you all let me share some music with you. Steve that was a very unselfless thing you did by letting me, an unknown get up and play with you. I am a huge fan and listener of the "WOLFMAN". Between him and Muddy, that put the juices to the Chicago Blues, it don't get no better. But the WOLFMAN can really howl it out. I hear his influence in your stuff. You got it down, heard that when I walked in the Knickerbockers. Got me all fired up. Listen share my hellos with the rest of the guys, Tim, Ricky, and that crazy harmonica player. You all were a lot of fun. My son took off this morning for a job in Dallas on a 32 million dollar tower. God has blessed us and I'm so happy for him. May god be on your journey and the light of happiness shine on you and yours. Take care.
As always I am

Anyone seen Beetlejuice lately?????????????
I was down at Lou's last week. That damn cat of yours used my extra tee shirt for a litter box. I'm not real happy about it. You better buy me a new shirt Steve! Don't tell me about my shirt being old either. Your shirts have sweat stains too! Oh yeah, that new CD Find the Line or somethin sounds alright. Hey, when are you guys playin that dump in St. Louis again? That fat chick with the huge flap really liked you alot.
I saw on the cat list that you ask for the name arvey, it is the first time that a singer ask something about cat names. or is it only the name.? I was a lot times in the states , for one of my daugters is living in Dover delaware, but I never had heard about you . Bye deni /

Hey Steve. Keep it up!
After all this time it is still great to here one of the best recording artists to ever come out of the begining of the century. Steve's CD's although hard to find in good condition remain as some of the best and most influencial recordings to grace american music culture since the days when you could wrap a string around two nails hammered to stick, drink some moon shine, and bang it out till the cows came home.
iam from australia havent heard your music before unfortuntately was not able to down load your sample ,I will look for your music in thew shops as i like to here before i buy

Hi Steve, can't get into your site, says I'm not authorised or have you not finished your pages yet? My site is being radically overhauled & my address will change on 1st June, will provide a link then. I get over 2500 hits a week. John Adams.
Hey Steve! Cool site! It was great running into you at Wrigley Field last week! It has been too long. Looking through your site sure brings back some great West Side Heat memories. I still have one of your EP's, on vinyl, that you put out in the early 80's. Please say hi to Ronda, the next time you see her, and good luck with everything!!! Keep jamming.......Mark

This is in reply to me not promoting West Side Heat properly. I do have plans to release a West Side Heat CD. My legal staff is negotiating with Record Companies in securing a record deal. I do realize that Thier are only three West Side Heat songs on the new CD. At the moment I am making a transition from Acoustic Country Blues to Playing my Stratocaster and Danelectro. I wanted to release this CD to showcase my wide variety of Guitar styles. I am sorry that you are dissapointed in my representation of West Side Heat on Compact Disc. I would be happy to discuss the Trials and Tribulations of Touring around the USA and keeping a band together. I welcome any comments, Financial aid or suggestions. Thank you
I saw the show last night at Buddy Guys Legends. It was a great show. I do not understand though why there are Steve Arvey cds for sale and not West Side Heat ones. On your schedule you say that West Side Heat is going on the road to support the release of the cd but I did not see a West Side Heat cd for sale. Where is the promotion for West Side Heat? This is a great band and I do not think that you are promoting it properly.
Big fan of the "News Blues!!"
Dear Steve, Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your set last night. What a pleasent surprise to see you at Buddy's after hearing you on the radio and jotting your name down. We listened to your CD on the way home. Dan really wants to set up some lessons with you.

BENEFIT CD AUCTION (Please pass this message on)
Hi, everyone:
Wednesday night on the way to Boston, legendary bluesman Sonny Rhodes, his wife and his band were nearly killed as they were traveling through a highway construction area in Connecticut. The van's engine literally exploded into flames in the left lane between two concrete dividers, and they had to get past that before they could pull over, jump out barefoot, and run. There is nothing at all left of their van, their instruments, their clothing, medications - nothing. They could only stand back and watched it all burn. The good news is that everyone is safe.
ONLINE AUCTION TO BENEFIT SONNY RHODES
In the wake of Sonny's near-tragic accident on November 10, we're relieved and happy to announce that he and his crew have made it home safely. In order for them to get back on their feet and back on the road, King Snake Records is contributing 3 of every CD we have in stock (5 of each of our Sonny Rhodes titles) to be auctioned off to the highest bidders, with 100% of profits donated to Sonny and his band. Beginning right now, you may place a bid online for any CD you see listed at http://www.kingsnakecd.com. The two highest bidders for any CD will receive it in the mail, personally autographed by Sonny. We also have autographed Sonny Rhodes posters up for auction. Any contributor or bidder will receive a personal thank-you from Sonny. The deadline for bids is midnight on Thanksgiving Day, November 25. This is your chance to get some great new music as well as to help out a veteran worldwide touring bluesman of the finest caliber.

Hello Steve,
You are the best - see you soon, maybe October 30th. And yes, they really go 90 miles per hour.
Steve, Thanks for visiting my webpage http://www.harlemslim.com where ther are 5 full length tracks from my new CD "delta blues & piedmont ragtime". I play & sing solo acoustic in the traditional depression era delta styles on a variety of vintage instuments. Please refer any prospective enthusiasts this way as these musical styles do not enjoy a great deal of popularity and are on the verge of extinction. Keep up the good work and thanks again for buying the CD. Harlem Slim!!!
By the way, I was the guy with Sofiana...we talked about Flaming Carrot and Bob Burden and all...it'd be fun to hang with you and Bob when he gets in to town. I'm also a guitar man who LOVES the blues and though I play mostly for myself and my friends I hope to "go public" someday with my own contributions to the music we all love. Thanks again for the songs and the great feelings that came with them...
Saw you at the Boulevard Cafe on October 16'th...damn good blues and great, expressive voice. Look forward to seeing/hearing you again!

Hi, I've recently become more familiar with the Dallas - Ft. Worth (vey active) blues scene since although I live in Chicago-land, I spend more time there... I'm interested in knowing more of the Chicago (acoustic/country) blues scene, i.e., venues, artists etc. I'm also an amateur player who would enjoy meeting others witht the same interests... Thanks :)

Steve, sick as I am, I dragged my carcass to the computer & dialed up your web page. It really brought back memories. You playing with Kansa City Red at the Sunday afternoon Blues on Halsted matinee, & Red keeps time like a waterlogged Timex; you & Hoekstra (complete with starched mohawk way before it was 'in' ) tearin it up at Fiddlers on Devon; postcard from WSH on the road in Colorado, (they sure grow some horny rabbits out west); following WSH across Canada, boy I really had to WORK following your show, talk about high energy! And then there's Tony Manguilo. I notice you said nice things about everybody, big man. I'm proud you're back, don't go away again. Love, Liz Mandville Greeson, Diva
