Ocean Blues in Sarasota For Guitar Player Johnny who is suffering from Pancreatis.

Ocean Blues will be hosting an event on January 29th at 7 pm called Jam for Johnny. These past 6 months have been difficult for Clifford “Johnny Guitar” Scrivens. He began having serious problems with his stomach this past year, and had to go for numerous tests. Sleep no longer came easily to him at night, the pain was too great, and sometimes he didn’t sleep for days. He didn’t eat either. It was difficult for him to force himself to eat something. Johnny gave up drinking, tried to give up smoking. Tests frightened his friends, for at one time the Doctors told him he could have pancreatic cancer. Johnny has lost over 30 pounds. He’s been weak, and his voice has been weak as well. But he revived when he’d begin playing and singing. One of his biggest problems has been getting to the hospitals and doctor’s offices for appointments. Johnny doesn’t drive, doesn’t own a car. Riding for hours on the bus hasn’t helped. Last Saturday night he was pain free for the first time in months, and we’re hoping this continues.

Here is a review from a well known radio DJ in Australia

Hi Steve,
Hope you are well.

Just got your cd “Big Road Blues” yesterday & thanks very much for posting it to me.

Well, to be honest Steve I’m a bit gobsmacked. I’ve listened to many many cds sent to me over the last 6 years that I have been presenting my programme & sometimes something special comes along. Your cd “Big Road Blues” is one of the best I’ve heard in that time. 24 tracks, what a bonus. A fantastic mix of modern/traditional accoustic, humour, brass, ballads & uptempo electric foot tapers & even a country feel on “The Pain Is Gone”. You have managed to capture on cd what you do live. Something many artists/bands fail to do.

Great stuff Steve & thanks again.

All the best & hope to catch up with you on your next trip to Oz.

We may arrange a hook up on radio one day if that’s ok with you.

Regards.
